When was last #1 team that played in 'The Floyd'?
Just curious. Seeing the OU machine may call for a packed house.

I'm with nein on this one.

UT is still UT. Of course we can say that because we know that BU is Thee University and I don't want UT taking the initials TU which stand for Thee University. Got it? Good.

I second nein and SoTex on this. Nothing done or said by the Ags should be emulated.

If a more denigrating handle for UT is desired, "cows" works well.

There have been many over the years. UT, OU and even Nebraska back in the day. This year reminds me of the Steele years when we would play a top 25 team almost every week both in non con and in big 12.

I thought USC was #1 when Texas came to town in 2005. I seem to remember them being billed as the best college football team ever, and pretty big favorites in the Rose Bowl over UT.

Edit: Just looked it up. Looks like UT was #1 in the BCS (though they would drop to #2 after our game) and USC was #1 in the AP Poll.

I believe we have only hosted the #1 team in Waco 4 times total. The last was in 2000, OU, I think.

I posted this on another board, but it seems relevant here. We will definitely see some good football teams this year.

We could easily play 2 and as many as 3 #1 teams this year. If OU loses to UT, UT will have a strong argument for #1. If UT then beats Mizzou, I can't see them not being at #1 when we play. If Mizzou beats UT and OU loses, it would be shocking if they don't come to Waco as #1. THat being said, it would be tough to see 2 #1's without an OU loss.

Another opportunity for a #1 would be Tech, but a lot of unlikely things have to happen to pave the way for that. I don't think we could possibly catch 4 #1's at the time they are #1 because the top teams knocking each other off.

I dont remember UT being #1 that year until after the FAT lady was singing in Pasadena, CA.
Mack was lobbying for the #2 spot when season was over.

Wow. That is just way too much unnecessary thinking.

What a schedule for Briles to start things off @ BU! It's actually a good thing from his perspective. They're expected to win 2-3 games so if we do then he has achieved expectations. Win 4 and he's exceeded expectations. Win 5 and he's almost an instant hero. Win 6+ and he might as well walk across Lake Waco.

I always thought the BCS should have a consolation game for the two teams with the worst record in BCS play, and have it be called the Dow Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Bowl.
