Baylor-Rice football series extended
11:31 PM CDT on Tuesday, August 19, 2008
From Staff Reports
Baylor has completed a four-year extension to its football series with Rice. The former Southwest Conference foes have agreed to games from 2013 through 2016.
With the extension, the schools are scheduled to meet every season from 2010 to 2016.

Excellent. I have always enjoyed playing old Southwest Conference teams. To me this is very good news.

Agreed. It also gives us good exposure in the Houston area and should help with recruiting.
Plus, we get to see the MOB in person. I still remember the MOB playing "Do You Know The Way To San Jose" after they beat us in 1980 while we were ranked in the Top 10. To top it off, the MOB dressed as bunnies in honor of some of our co-eds being kicked off campus for appearing in Playboy. Painful, but funny.

The MOB was always worth the price of admission. I remember one time they played "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" and the drum corp lit off smoke bombs. You could barely see the MOB with all the smoke. I doubt you could get away with that today but it was hilarious.

Of course the classic MOB stunt was at Kyle field when they formed a fire hydrant and played "Where O Where Has My Little Dog Gone". Naturally the humorless soldier dress up boys were incensed. At either this show or another for an AnM game they goosestepped. Love it.

That shows a great sense of humor on Rice's part. I love it.

Me too. I wish we would play Rice and TCU every year. Don't care too much about Arky though.

I'm really enjoying seeing TCU, SMU, & Rice on future schedules. Not only is it a throwback to SWC days, but having those teams on the schedule nearly guarantees us a game in the Metroplex or Houston every year...and in some years, both. Perhaps it will help build up lost alumni support.
